Gautham Vasudev Menon  also known as GVM is an Indian film director, producer, screenwriter and actor who predominantly works in Tamil cinema. He had also directed in telugu and hindi industry which the remake of his own Tamil movies. Many of his movies have been critically acclaimed by most of the critics. His notable romantic film are Minnale(2001), Vaaranam Aayira(2008), Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa(2010) and his thrillers films like Kaakha Kaakha(2003), Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu(2006), and Yennai Arindhaal(2015). Vaaranam Aayiram won national film award for the best feature film in Tamil. GVM  produces film through his Photo Kathaas film production company. His production Thanga Meengal in 2013 won the national film award. 

GVM was born on February 25th 1973, in Ottapalam a town in the palakkad district of Kerala. His father was a maliyali and his mother was a tamilian. Although he was born in Kerala he was raised in Chennai , Anna Nagar. Hr earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Mookambigai College of Engineering Pudukkottai.

GVM made his first debut film in Tamil industry in the year 1995 and still continues with it. His first film as the director was Minnale. And he still works has a successful director in the industry.
